Raquel Paiewonsky
Raquel es egresada de la carrera de Bellas Artes en CHAVÓN. Su trabajo se puede encontrar en las colecciones permanentes del RISD Museum, en Providence, Rhode Island; Museum of Latin American Art, en Long Beach, California, y Daros Latinamerica Collection, en Zurich. Ha participado en exposiciones, residencias y bienales en Estados Unidos, Europa, Asia, Latinoamérica y el Caribe. Entre ellas se destacan la Bienal de Venecia de 2009 y 2013; las VIII, IX y XXI Bienales de La Habana, Cuba; la X Bienal de Cuenca, Ecuador; la III Bienal del Fin del Mundo, en Ushuaia, Argentina, y la Bienal de Jamaica en el 2017.
Raquel has been an active participant in art tours in our country. She has a special
interest in promoting spaces for dialog and education among cultural platforms. She
was co-creator of the collective Quintapata (2008–2015), with whom she developed
joint projects with the aim of encouraging art and artistic dialog in the Dominican
Republic and creating connections with other contexts and spaces.
She won the Eduardo León Jimenes Grand Prize in 2006, 2008, and 2012 and won
prizes at the XX and XXII National Biennial of Visual Arts in Santo Domingo. In 2015
she received the support of the Davidoff Art Initiative for a residency in the
Kunstlerhaus Bethanien, in Berlin.
