In addition to its two-year college-level program, CHAVÓN The School of Design offers the opportunity to complete a 4-year BFA degree in a unique 2+2 collaboration with Parsons School of Design, the preeminent college of the visual arts in the United States. Successful graduates of the 2-year program at CHAVÓN may enter the art and design professions directly, or they may continue at Parsons to complete their BFA degree after two more years of study (2+2) in New York City.
Although study in New York requires competence in English, the principal prerequisite for admission to the Parsons BFA is the maintenance of a 3.0 grade point average (GPA), graduation from the CHAVÓN 2-year program, as well as meeting Parsons’ admissions requirements.
1 – Financial
Students who successfully complete their studies at CHAVÓN and are accepted to Parsons will take part in the CHAVÓN/Parsons 2+2 program and obtain their Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from Parsons School of Design. Therefore, the overall cost of their studies is substantially reduced, since tuition and living costs at CHAVÓN are substantially lower than those of other academic institutions abroad.
2 – Language
Because courses at CHAVÓN are taught in Spanish, the CHAVÓN/Parsons 2+2 Program provides a two-year period in which to meet Parsons English proficiency standards through an optional English as a Second Language (ESL).
3 – Social & Cultural.
The program’s first two years provide a “bridge” period in which students can become familiarized with the intensity of a professional art/design education in a familiar environment, without simultaneously having to acclimate to the complex urban culture of New York City.
Under some circumstances, Parsons may require a further review beyond a 3.0 GPA, including (but not limited to) the submission of a portfolio and an interview.
